Soar Into Aviation
Fontana Unified is excited to provide these new Aviation Course opportunities to our FUSD Students. Students enrolled in these programs will receive 5 elective credits. Lunch will be provided for each Saturday in-person class. Transportation to the facility will be available from AB Miller High School. Classes take place Saturdays: 8:30 am - 3:00 pm September 11, 18, 25 October 9, 16, 30 November 6, 20 December 4, 18 Program 1 - Shades of Blue Aviation Course The Shades of Blue Aviation course is designed to introduce the student to the basics of aviation, and the many career fields associated with the aerospace industry. The course consists of ten six-hour sessions for the in-person version and eighteen lessons which take approximately three hours each to complete in the online version. The course is taught by subject matter experts, typically pilots, engineers, and other persons experienced in the field being discussed. The course includes tests to measure students progress for each lesson, and students who successfully complete the course should be prepared to take the FAA written test for their Private Pilot Certificate. As the complement to the course, students are encouraged to take a Young Eagles orientation flight and enroll in the included online ground school course. Program 2 - Barboza Space Center Barboza Space Center offers courses that focuses on training tiger teams of junior astronauts, engineers, scientists and drone pilots to learn about future careers in the space industry. They train robots to help astronauts while conducting science experiments for Earth, Moon, and Mars missions. Students learn about cybersecurity, design and electrical engineering, Mars habitat and settlement designing, and work on simulated NASA tiger teams. They also introduce the exciting new field of astrosociology and how to get ready for taking notes in college. FAYOLS MAN SUMMER LEADERSHIP CAMP 2021
I Am a Fayola Men Summer Leadership Camp 2021 is a 7-week leadership camp for young men who will be in 6-8 grade for the 2021-2022 school year. The summer camp components are focused on hip hop, character development, STEM, financial literacy, student voice, leadership, arts, career awareness, and academic readiness. We will use mentoring and social-emotional learning (SEL) tenets as the foundation for this camp. Breakfast, Lunch & Snacks will be provided.

The virtual Aviation Careers Education (ACE) Academy is a week-long motivational program for middle school and high school students that is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the many career opportunities within that aviation industry, as well as general knowledge about Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Pathways Program for Aviation and Space

The Ontario International Airport’s STEAMD++ (science, technology, engineering, visual and performing arts, mathematics, design, computer languages, and world languages) Initiative with Chief Operating Officer Bruce Atlas, is a collaboration between SHADES OF BLUE and the Barboza Space Center. The initiative is being held at Ontario International Airport and consists of two complementary programs: The Aviation and Space programs. SHADES OF BLUE will focus on subject matter relating to the Aviation industry while the Barboza Space Center is focused on the Space industry. Both divisions will deliver education through engaging project-based learning as part of their youth programs.
